Coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that helps people deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.

In each meeting, the client chooses the focus of conversation, while the coach listens and contributes observations and questions. This interaction creates clarity and moves the client into action. Coaching accelerates the client’s progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. Coaching concentrates on where clients are now and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be in the future. Credentialed coaches recognize that results are a matter of the client’s intentions, choices and actions, supported by the coach’s efforts and application of the coaching process.

Coaching honors the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believes that every client is creative, resourceful and whole. Standing on this foundation, the coach's responsibility is to:

  • Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve

  • Encourage client self-discovery

  • Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies

  • Hold the client responsible and accountable

Immunity To Change Coaching

Immunity to Change logo.png

Immunity to Change coaching is a powerful method for creating the lasting changes that you want in your life.

Cindy Miller is a certified Immunity to Change coach trained by Harvard faculty and authors Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey. It is hard for people to change, even when we have a strong need and desire to change. There is a hidden, internal dynamic “protecting” us from the changes we most desire to make: the “immune system.”

Through the Immunity to Change coaching process, you will identify an improvement goal, develop an immunity to change map that helps you to uncover hidden competing assumptions that have been holding you back from making important changes. You will learn how to run safe tests that help you to change your mindset and embed new and better practices that help you succeed at work and in life.

The process is also available to leadership teams that would like to work together to improve team effectiveness.

The Coaching Process

The Coaching Process usually occurs over 3-6 months with one-hour sessions twice a month. The length of coaching and number of sessions is customized to meet the needs of the client.

In company settings, Phase 1 can include a one-hour objective setting session with the client and the client's manager to initiate the coaching engagement with clear and agreed objectives. Phase 3 can include a one-hour debrief session with the client and the client's manager to share the client's development progress and wrap up the coaching agreement.

Is Coaching Right For Me?

Working with a dedicated coach can provide you with essential support by:

  • Fostering time and space for you to think and reflect

  • Creating clarity about what you want to achieve and finding the most effect way for you to do it

  • Helping you to enhance your capabilities to meet the challenges of your work and your life

  • Increasing your effectiveness by developing abilities of self-observation, self-awareness and self-responsibility

  • Creating opportunities for you to experiment and practice

  • Providing you open and honest feedback

When considering coaching, it is helpful to ask yourself:

  • Can I make the time necessary for real coaching?

  • Am I truly committed to this?

  • Am I able to look at myself objectively?

  • Can i share honestly about myself?

  • Do I have the energy to make changes in my life?

  • Am I self-directed enough to continue the after the coaching contract has ended?
